Genital Herpes is indubitally the most common sexually transmitted disease in the world these days. Genital herpes affects about 75 million persons in America. It is spread in the main via sexual contact where it invades the system through small abrasions in the skin. Herpes can be got by 2 viruses: herpes simplex 1 and HSV-2.

Herpes is most easily spread when a sore is present, however herpes is also spread when no visible signs are present. The virus can be passed on from the moment these initial sores are experienced until the skin is completely clear and the skin appears normal again. We Are most likely to pass on the virus when the blisters are festering, wet, or leaking liquid until the scabs get better and fall off.

Herpes is also spread from one place on your body to another, such as from your genitals to your hands, then to your eyes or to other areas of your body. It can also be spread from a mother to her baby when she gives birth if the baby passes through an infected birth canal.

In a an affair with a person who is infected with the virus, your chance of getting herpes can always be there. Many people have sex for years without transmitting the HSV virus just by not having sex there is a possibility of an outbreak occurring. Heres is more prevelant in females with some 39% of women; and only 19% of males are infected.

Herpes may play a part in the passing of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. As it causes open sores on the genitals, it also increases the risk of contracting the HIV virus. Herpes can make us more vulnerable to HIV infection, and it certainly makes HIV-infected people more communicable.

Herpes is not all terrible

About 90% of people who have herpes are not aware that they have it.

An increasing proportion of genital herpes outbreaks are due to HSV1 (cold sores) that can be transmitted via oral sex. Herpes is perhaps the most common sexually transmitted disease in America today.

Genital herpes is generally, but not always, passed on by sexual contact. Herpes blisters on the genitals and cold sores extremely infectious when an infected person has visible blisters or sores.
